Old Layers also known as spent hens are layer birds that have finished serving their time as egg producers.
They are lean meat and contain less saturated fat than red meat. If you want an animal protein source in that low fat diet, Old Layers are a good source. Like other poultry, they are rich in vitamins, minerals, and amino acids.
Older Layer meat is tougher than Broiler meat and the choice of many.
Only healthy layers are dressed and packaged.
